Students who would like to undertake a double degree from foreign universities can feel relieved because, under a new framework, students who could not previously enroll in such courses due to the varying levels of qualification framework, will now be eligible to take admission at foreign universities.
The University Grants Commission has announced amendments to the National Higher Education Qualification Framework (NHEQF). The level from 5 to 10 in higher education has decreased from 4.5 to 8. This framework will apply from graduation to the Ph.D. level. It is worth noting that higher education institutions have set specific assessment standards for students and grouped them into levels ranging from 5 to 10. While levels 1 to 4 address school education, Furthermore, there are levels ranging from 6 to 12 at higher education institutions worldwide. Scotland holds the world’s highest level of 12. Level 10 is achieved by New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia. It is up to level 8 in Europe. Similarly, Hong Kong and Singapore provide higher education at level 7, whereas Thailand provides education at level 6.
